Tuscany is home of Italy's most famous IGT category and Casal Duro is a great example of "Super Tuscan" wine. The grapes were vinified at different times and aged separately for 24 months, in Barriques. The base wines were then assembled and rested, together, for another 2 months, to favour the perfect fusion of the blend. The wine is bottled without being filtered and stays in the cellar for a further 12 months, to guarantee that its potential is expressed to the full. Colour: intense ruby red tending towards garnet as it ages; dark and with little reflection, due to the fact that it isn’t filtered. The nose: an explosion of aromas, sweet and fruity, vanilla, balsamic and spicy pursue each other and alternate according to how long the wine remains in the glass. In the mouth: extremely rich and full-bodied, it doesn’t conceal its potency, on the contrary it is one of the wine’s strong points. Dense, sweet tannins that will soften even more over time. Can age for 20 years or more.A vintage that has turned out to be wonderful.
